Update, 12:53 p.m.: McClure Bridge is now expected to experience closures on Friday as well as Thursday, according to CPD spokesman Scott Beaubien.

Beaubien told Clarksville Now the closures are due to the delivery of several steel beams to the constructions site. Four beams will be delivered Thursday with three additional beams arriving Friday.

The beams will be coming from the Dover area by way of Dover Road and Providence Boulevard. They will then travel down Riverside Drive before turning right onto Highway 48/13. CPD traffic units will provide an escort for the trucks. Each intersection along the route is expected to be closed for 15-20 minutes.

CPD is expected to provide an updated timeframe of closures on Thursday.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Portions of McClure Bridge will be shut down on Thursday, July 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Drivers should expect significant traffic delays during that time.

Portions of McClure Bridge will experience intermittent closures throughout the day due to construction of the new bridge, according to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Mark Wojnarek.

Commuters are asked to plan alternate routes, and traffic on Zinc Plant Road is also likely to be affected.
