Two Indian tourists have died in a motorbike incident yesterday evening on the Thai Gulf island of Koh Samui, southern Thailand. The pair were driving down the Khao Pom mountain on a rented motorbike when they crashed into a barrier on a curved road. The men’s bodies were found on the mountainside.
At 6:30pm yesterday, Koh Samui Police Station received a report that two Indian tourists had died after crashing their motorbike into a railing in the Taling Ngam district of Khao Pom mountain.
The bodies of 35 year old Vinay Dutt Kaushik and 34 year old Dhruv Tripathi were found, with broken necks and multiple broken bones, on the mountainside on the other side of the railing. A rented Honda Click 125i was found lying on the roadside.
The incident happened on the steep, curved road which is apparently the site of many accidents and deaths, according to police.
The tourists came to Thailand on June 11 and were staying at the Maenam Hill Village hotel on Koh Samui. They planned to leave Thailand on June 25.
The men’s bodies have been taken to Koh Samui hospital for autopsies to be carried out. The Indian Embassy have been notified of their deaths.
