MADISON — State police are looking for witnesses after one person died following a collision with a tractor trailer on I-95 Sunday, police said.
Police said the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday on I-95 southbound, just shy of Exit 60.
The tractor trailer, driven by 58-year-old Jerry Sochacki of Rhode Island, was traveling in the right lane on I-95 when it slowed down because of an imminent road closure and traffic.
Police said the second vehicle, driven by 49-year-old Aymeric Dupre la Tour, swerved from the left lane into the right lane for an unknown reason, striking the rear of the trailer.
After hitting the trailer, the car continued into the right shoulder and crashed into the metal beam guardrail, police said.
Dupre la Tour, a musician from Niantic who worked at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church in Trumbull, died from his injuries after he was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment, police said.
State police are actively investigating and are asking any witnesses to the collision to contact Trooper Clark #399 at 860-399-2100.
