Two Crow Wing County road construction projects are scheduled to begin next month.

The county entered into a contract with Redstone Construction for the replacement of the deck on the bridge crossing the Nokasippi River, about 8 miles south of Brainerd.

The project will consist of providing a new bridge deck, railing, guardrail and associated items. County Highway 45 at the project location is scheduled to be closed to traffic beginning May 2. Traffic will be detoured utilizing County Road 131, and county highways 21 and 2.

The county also entered into a contract with DeChantal Excavating for the construction of a roundabout at County Highway 49 (Wise Road) and County Highway 5 (Beaver Dam Road) north of Brainerd.

The project will consist of grading, storm sewer, concrete curb and gutter, bituminous surfacing and associated signing and lighting, and is also scheduled to begin May 2, at which time traffic on Wise Road will be detoured. The detour will utilize highways 371 and 210 and Mill Avenue. Users of Beaver Dam Road will need to use Riverside Drive to access the detour route.

The county will post updates on social media, and the highway department website at crowwing.us/149/Current-Projects .

County Highway 45 and Wise Road are anticipated to be open to traffic in July of 2022. Final paving operations may take place after this date. Visit the county’s website or call the highway department at 218-824-1110 for additional information on the projects.
