Walworth Road is blocked off to traffic after scaffolding collapsed amid high winds this morning.
It is unclear if anyone is hurt at this stage. One local said that the scaffolding was above Longdan supermarket near Elephant and Castle roundabout.

Local police said in a statement: “Walworth Road is now Closed at the Junction of Heygate Street due to collapsed scaffolding. This is just down from Elephant and Castle Stations.
“Please divert around Newington Butts or New Kent Road if travelling South.”
The incident comes as Londoners were warned to stay at home today if at all possible amid the high winds of Storm Eunice.
The chair of London Councils, Cllr Georgia Gould, said: “Boroughs are working hard to maintain essential local services and support our communities in the face of Storm Eunice.
“It’s really important that we only travel when absolutely necessary. If you have to, please check with TfL and National Rail for service updates and allow more time.
“Boroughs are also ready to respond if there are reports of damaged buildings or trees.
“Please be prepared, stay safe, look out for each other and keep travel to a minimum.”
