A flat-bed truck lost control, crashed into a concrete guard rail, and went over the U.S. Highway 17 overpass in New Bern on Friday morning, according to NC Highway Patrol.
John Edwards, a first sergeant with the Highway Patrol, said that around 9:15 am Friday a truck was traveling on the highway and hit the right side of the bridge barrier. One man was in the vehicle at the time and was injured, Edwards said. He was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
Emergency personnel is clearing the wreckage and damaged vehicle from the scene.
The N.C. Dept. of Transportation, the state Highway Patrol, No. 7 Township Fire & Rescue, and Craven County emergency officials were on the scene.
