A Smackover man was killed Tuesday evening in a single-vehicle crash in Camden.

An Arkansas State Police preliminary crash report states that Taylor L. Ramsey, 35, of Smackover was travelling north on Ouachita County Road 67 in a 2000 GMC Sierra at around 7 p.m. Tuesday when he was unable to negotiate a curve exiting the roadway.

Ramsey's truck left the road then re-entered facing the opposite direction and continued sliding across before striking a bridge railing and flipping over, coming to rest on the northwest side of a creek, facing east, according to the ASP.

Ouachita County Coroner Sylvester Smith pronounced him dead at the scene.

Weather and road conditions were reportedly clear and dry at the time of the accident, according to the ASP report.

This was the 372nd fatal accident on an Arkansas highway so far this year, and Ramsey was the 412th person to be killed in such an accident in 2022.

He was the sixth Union County resident to be killed in a highway wreck this year, according to the ASP.

Jackie R. Canfield, 64, died on July 28 when his vehicle ran off the road in Huttig. Lesia Fincher, 53, of El Dorado was killed on July 1 in a two-vehicle wreck in Hampton. On May 13, Christopher A. Harrison, 45, of El Dorado was killed in an ATV wreck at the intersection of Pleasant Grove Road and Highway 7. Jason Langley, 46, of El Dorado was killed in a two-vehicle wreck, that also left a Junction City man injured, on Highway 167 in April. Michael Simmons, 45, of Felsenthal was killed in a motorcycle wreck in Strong in February.

Also, on May 9, Ladarius Gatson, 42, of Spearsville, Louisiana was killed in a single-ATV crash in Union County and in March, Chandler Knight, 20, of Hamburg was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 82.
