A $7.2 million Florida Department of Transportation project to improve safety on a 2.3 mile segment of East Nine Mile Road is continuing.
Workers are making progress on widening turn lanes and installing new storm drain pipes.
The project calls for widening the turn lanes to include 5-foot bicycle lanes in each direction, pedestrian and traffic signal upgrades, minor guardrail, drainage improvements, and milling and resurfacing of turn lanes and bicycle lanes.
Lane closures are limited to between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. seven days a week. Pedestrian detours are in place while sidewalk improvements are underway.

need to install a $100 *** toll booth on 9- mile to help fund the future repairs for years to come. and more red lights to slow traffic down to many speeders a seamless drivers. maybe some good hard speed bumps will help out also. need more auto repair shops on 9- mile also.
All that money for safety improvements I been trying get speed bumps put on my road cause people wanna do 100 mph in a 10 mph zone so but someone rather be sued when someone wrecks and hurts someone we asked about slow children at play signs and the county official told me my kids shouldn’t be in road and nooo my kids don’t play in road they even said if I want speed bumps there 5000 a piece and I have to pay for it well when I build my own they better not say a word .
While they’re out there working, it would be nice if someone could figure out how to time traffic lights. If you’re eastbound on 9 Mile Rd, when you top the hill at Chisholm Rd you’d better be prepared to stop, because more often than not, there is a complete road block between there and University Pkwy. This means that people are cutting through subdivisions as shortcuts, leaving those of us that live here effectively landlocked.
