CENTER LINE, MI -- Police are investigating the possible theft of a puppy after a home security camera captured an Amazon driver picking up the dog and driving away with no sign of the dog in sight. According to Fox 2 Detroit, Maurice Gunn, of Center Line says he believes the driver drove off with the puppy shortly after the dog was able to to crawl under a fence and escape from Gunn’s yard.
The footage shows the dog -- whose name in Mauria -- crawl underneath the fence and start walking down the street. A different angle shows Mauria in Gunn’s yard when the Amazon driver notices the puppy. The driver and the dog disappear from the frame for a moment before returning into frame with the driver holding Mauria.
The driver looks around briefly and then goes around to the loading side of the delivery truck where the camera does not see what happens. The driver then gets into the truck and drives away. Gunn has not seen the dog since and is convinced the driver took Mauria with him.
Gunn says he checked with neighbors and the police department to see if anyone reported finding the dog or seeing her, but no one was able to help him. Center Line Police are investigating and Amazon has issued a statement saying the company is aware of the issue and is looking into it as well.
Mauria is described as a tri-colored mini American bully.
Anyone with information regarding Mauria’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Center Line Police at 586-757-2200 or the Macomb County Animal Control at 586-469-5115.
