HARLEM, NY — Police have identified the driver who died in a crash on the Henry Hudson Parkway on Wednesday, saying the 66-year-old man had suffered a medical episode moments earlier.

Brian Keating, a White Plains resident, was driving his 2020 Porsche Macan SUV north along the Henry Hudson Parkway just before 3 p.m., when he had the unspecified medical episode while traveling in the left lane, police said.

His car then struck the center guide rail, veered to the right across three travel lanes, and continued off the road and onto the right shoulder, hitting vegetation along the roadside, before veering back onto the northbound highway, police said.

A 66-year-old woman sitting in the passenger seat managed to grab the steering wheel and turn the car into the right guide rail, bringing the car to a stop near Saint Clair Place in West Harlem, police said.

Keating was rushed to Mt. Sinai St. Luke's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The woman was not injured.

An investigation is ongoing, police said.

The crash, which happened not long before rush hour, snarled traffic along the Henry Hudson Parkway Wednesday afternoon.
