Cortlandville, N.Y. — Cortland County sheriff’s investigators are asking for the public’s help as they search for whoever stole copper wire from a National Grid substation.

Investigators say the theft happened between Thursday and Monday at the National Grid substation on Route 11 in the town of Cortlandville.

“The sheriff’s office would like to remind (everyone) to make sure if they see something unusual, to report the incident immediately,” Cortland County Sheriff’s Lt. Garry Williams said in a news release.

Investigators ask anyone with information about the copper wire theft to call Williams at (607) 758-5583.
